Inmate Convicted

On October 18, 2023, Cristian Lopez was found guilty of two charges by a Kern County jury: assault with a deadly weapon by a prisoner and assault by means of force likely to cause severe bodily harm by a prisoner. According to the District Attorney’s Office, on February 28, 2023, while incarcerated at North Kern State Prison, Lopez and another inmate launched a sudden assault on a fellow inmate. The District Attorney’s office stated that Lopez, armed with an inmate-manufactured weapon, repeatedly stabbed the victim in the arms and chest.
